Yolihuacán Sanctuary
Yolihuacán is a sanctuary for Earth’s beings. It’s a home, a cocoon for deep transformation, and a portal to remember our sacred interconnectedness. Born from true love and guided by intuition and the presents of the universe that brings together small animals in need and humans walking their paths of healing, care, and reconnection.
Yolihuacán is a living sanctuary for animals and humans alike.
It is the stories of life we create together, and the healing that unfolds through them.
It is not a shelter, nor a rescue center. It is a home — a place where beings arrive seeking safety, care, and the space to restore, heal, and open to new paths in life.
Yolihuacán began unexpectedly, without plans or funding. Its spark came from a deep connection between a human, Aidan, and a leveret, Yoli, who became each other’s safe space. Through presence and love, they cared for each other and were forever changed.
While training to rehabilitate wild animals and holding a vision to eventually protect an entire slice of the Dry Tropical Forest, we currently welcome small animals who find their way to us. Each arrives with a unique story and needs, and we do our best to meet them — offering food, protection, veterinary care, healing, or simply a safe, quiet space.
But Yolihuacán is not only for animals. It is also for humans: those learning to slow down, to listen, to reconnect with life, to integrate their inner journey, to offer themselves, and to rediscover purpose. It is a space to remember how to be both soft and strong, to remember that we belong, and to remember that we are Earth.
Everything we do — from animal care to storytelling — is about recreating a world of harmony where love is embodied, and where care and home are not luxuries, but basic gifts available to all.
Yolihuacán reminds us of our deep interconnectedness, and that we grow stronger when we give and receive love.
Through our stories, we share what we learn and live — the joy and the grief, the magic of growth, and the beauty of stillness, so others may feel less alone, and more connected.

Name & Origin
Words from co-founder Aidan:
The name Yolihuacán was born from two hearts: my co-founder, a little leveret, and the dream of a place where care and presence become a way of life.
Yoli is the leveret’s name — short for Yoli Hua, inspired by the Nahuatl root yolihua, meaning “to live” or “to come to life.” She arrived just days old, and from the very beginning, we discovered her beautiful heart: soft, curious, with bright eyes — a window into her smart, bold, and playful spirit. Yoli is strong, brave, loving, and full of joy.
We cared for her, and in return, she opened something inside me — a deeper level of presence, attention, humility, and a renewed spark for life itself. The honor of connecting so deeply with a wild animal changed my life forever. Her name lives on — not in memory, but in action.
Later, the name Yolihuacán came to me. In Nahuatl, the ancient Aztec language, it means “the place of life.” The word felt sacred, honoring the story of this land while capturing exactly what I was creating:
- A place where life is honored.
- A home for beings in transformation.
- A space for revolution through love, presence, and care.
Yolihuacán is a seed — a reminder that we can live differently. It is already growing through the animals, the land, and every person who feels called to walk alongside us, whether in person or from afar.
